Hello! I'm Mack Schaefer (he/him). I was born and raised in Rockaway, New Jersey, and I recently graduated from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a BFA in Musical Theatre. I am now based in New York City!
I am also proud to say that I am a transgender man. Although I began thinking of transitioning from a young age, I finally came out after my junior year at the conservatory. It was a challenge and required me to work very hard for what I wanted, but I am beyond happy with the life I am living now. I was able to prove to myself that trans people can both be happy and have careers in theatre.
My most recent artistic endeavor was working as a production assistant at Paper Mill Playhouse for New Voices 2021. Paper Mill is a place I hold near and dear to my heart and being able to return post-lockdown was very rewarding. I acted as an assistant teacher, assistant director, and with the video production aspect of our show.
Along with performing arts, I also have passions in visual art, including drawing, painting, building, and much more. I have a love for reading as well, which is probably the most valuable habit I picked up during quarentine.
